Visiting Italy just went back to the way it was before (COVID-19). Now hassle free!
Now, no matter from where you are arriving, you wont have to go to the trouble of presenting your vaccination certification or submitting to a test for COVID-19 on arrival. And, travelling around Italy also does not require mask wearing for most situations; this was dropped the month before but at the time of publishing this update, the FFP2 must is still to be worn until 15 June 2022 on long distance public transport.
Italy currently reports over 87% of the population have had their 1st COVID-19 vaccination, and over 77% with a 2nd dose. The most recent data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, that has been lastly updated May 19, shows Italy administered 136,206,350 Coronavirus vaccine doses.
In short, Italy has joined some of it's neighbours in Europe that have already dropped entry rules; Austria, Greece and many more. But also check your own home country requirements for returning home and the airline requirements, before leaving home.
