Prepare and pack for a hot climate during the day in Botswana. There is little to no rain during the entire winter and humidity is low, typically 20-40%. Animals will concentrate around waterholes and rivers when other water resources dry up.  However the average morning temperature is 6°C/42°F. Night temperatures can drop below freezing, especially in the dryer Kalahari areas. You will need to pack winter clothing because morning game drives in open vehicles will be cold. Afternoons will be more pleasant with temperatures around 25°C and above /78°F.  September & October - The heat gradually builds and it can get very hot in October (38°C/100°F), but the average temperature remains around 34°C/93°F in the afternoon.

MAUN
Maun has a subtropical steppe/ low-latitude semi-arid hot climate (Köppen-Geiger classification: BSh). The summers are short, hot, and partly cloudy; the winters are short, cool, and clear; and it is dry year round.

The climate in South Africa ranges from desert and semi-desert in the north west of the country to sub-tropical on the eastern coastline. The rainy season for most of the country is in the summer, except in the Western Cape where the rains come in the winter. Rainfall in the Eastern Cape is distributed evenly throughout the year. Winter temperatures hover around zero, summers can be very hot, in excess of 35° Celsius (95°F) in some places.

The South African Weather Service provides up-to-date weather information, forecasts and satellite imaging. SAWS has also implemented a network of high-resolution Doppler radars to improve the quality of its forecasts. Unfortunately, SAWS radar imaging is not syndicated to commercial news services and is thus difficult to find online.

The average temperature in Cape Town remains relatively mild all year long. Unlike other destinations, the average temperature never drops below freezing, even in July and August. In fact, during a stay in Cape Town in August, you can expect the average temperature to be 13°C (55°F). This balmy temperature is great for exploring Cape Town.  Like the other winter months of June and July, you can expect the average high temperature to reach 18°C (64°F). Similarly, every day the temperature drops after sunset, and during August the average low temperature is a cool 8°C (46°F).

Johannesburg is situated on the Highveld plateau, and has a subtropical highland climate (Köppen Cwb). The city enjoys a sunny climate, with the summer months (October to April) characterised by hot days followed by afternoon thundershowers and cool evenings, and the winter months (May to September) by dry, sunny days followed by cold nights. Temperatures in Johannesburg are usually fairly mild due to the city's high elevation, with an average maximum daytime temperature in January of 25.6 °C (78.1 °F), dropping to an average maximum of around 16 °C (61 °F) in June. The UV index for Johannesburg in summers is extreme, often reaching 14-16 due to the high elevation and proximity to the equator.

Zimbabwe has a tropical climate with many local variations. The southern areas are known for their heat and aridity, parts of the central plateau receive frost in winter, the Zambezi valley is also known for its extreme heat and the Eastern Highlands usually experience cool temperatures and the highest rainfall in the country. The country's rainy season generally runs from late October to March and the hot climate is moderated by increasing altitude. Zimbabwe is faced with recurring droughts, the latest one commencing early in 2015 and ongoing into 2016. Severe storms are rare.

VICTORIA FALLS
Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe has 2 distinct climates - Wet & Dry. The dry season begins in May and extends through autumn and winter into early summer in October. The early part of the dry season is a temperate time with daytime temperatures in the early 20°C range and the mercury often falling to single digit figures at night.
