Telstra coverage is available across the island, but can be inconsistent in more remote areas. Limited Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile is available from Kingscote to Penneshaw and adjacent areas. Visitors are advised to contact their mobile supplier for updated information. Public phones are located at Penneshaw, American River, Kingscote, Cygnet River, Brownlow, Emu Bay, Parndana, Vivonne Bay, Seal Bay and Flinders Chase.

If you don’t already use this service, we recommend downloading this application also. It’s a mobile phone App that offers fast, simple, secure messaging and calling for free (data charges may apply – ask your phone provider). As a general indication, for many of our tours, our guides use WhatsApp to communicate with the group. It does not apply to all tours however is helpful to communicate with other group members.

Many hotels these days offer WiFi—some for free, others for a modest fee.
