A circuit tour departing and returning from Reykjavik; experience all north, south, east and west awe inspiring sides of Iceland. 

PRE TOUR STAY
Most travellers will require a flight that arrives at least one day prior to the tour start as day one of the tour sets of with touring after lunch. Arriving a day prior also provides a buffer in case of unexpected flight delays. The cost of the additional night/s of stay applies. 

 

DAY 1
Reykjavik

Welcome to Iceland, a land of fire and ice, and its charming capital, Reykjavik. Upon arrival, enjoy some time to settle in and explore the city’s vibrant streets, dotted with colourful houses, boutique shops, and lively cafes. This compact city blends a modern Nordic vibe with a deep connection to its Viking heritage.

In the afternoon, meet your local English-speaking guide who will accompany you throughout the tour. Begin with a 3-hour city tour by bus, uncovering Reykjavik’s unique blend of modernity and tradition. Highlights include the iconic Hallgrimskirkja Church, standing tall as the city’s defining landmark, the architecturally stunning Harpa Concert Hall, and the historic Hofdi House. Stroll by the Sun Voyager sculpture, a striking ode to Icelandic exploration, and visit City Hall, where the topographical map of Iceland provides fascinating insights into the country's geography. One of the tour highlights is Perlan’s Wonders of Iceland exhibit, which features a panoramic observation deck, an immersive Planetarium show, and engaging displays on Iceland’s glaciers, volcanoes, and other natural wonders.

Reykjavik & Selfoss

Golden Circle Highlights
After breakfast, embark on the renowned Golden Circle tour, a must-see route showcasing Iceland’s most celebrated natural attractions. Begin with Gullfoss, the “Golden Waterfall,” a breathtaking cascade that plunges into a dramatic canyon, often creating vivid rainbows in the mist. Next, explore the Geysir geothermal area, where bubbling hot springs and the Strokkur geyser erupt every few minutes, delighting onlookers.

Continue to the historic Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, creating a dramatic rift valley. This park is not only geologically fascinating but also historically significant as the site of Iceland’s first parliament, established over a thousand years ago. Vestmanna Islands Exploration
Begin the day with a scenic drive along Iceland’s dramatic southern coastline to the ferry terminal, where you’ll set sail for the Vestmanna Islands. Known for their rugged volcanic landscapes and rich biodiversity, the islands are a paradise for nature lovers and birdwatchers. En route, stop at the Lava Centre, an interactive museum that provides an in-depth look at Iceland’s volcanic and seismic activity. From its observation deck, marvel at views of nearby volcanoes and the surrounding countryside. On the Vestmanna Islands, visit the Sea Life Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary, the first of its kind in the world, where rescued beluga whales live in a safe and natural environment. The sanctuary also features an aquarium that offers insights into the region’s diverse marine ecosystem

Today’s journey takes you along Iceland’s iconic South Coast, a region of extraordinary natural beauty. Begin with a visit to Seljalandsfoss, a picture-perfect waterfall where a hidden path allows you to walk behind the cascading water for a truly unique perspective. Next, marvel at the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, whose spray often produces vivid rainbows, adding to its photogenic charm.

Continue to the charming village of Vík, nestled among dramatic cliffs and black sand beaches. Here, explore Reynisfjara, famous for its striking basalt columns, sea stacks, and the ferocity of its waves. Admire views of Myrdalsjökull, one of Iceland’s largest glaciers, and drive through the moss-covered Eldhraun lava fields, remnants of one of Iceland’s largest volcanic eruptions. In Skaftafell, a part of Vatnajökull National Park, take a short hike to Svartifoss, a waterfall framed by striking hexagonal basalt columns resembling organ pipes.

Next, journey to Asbyrgi National Park, a horseshoe-shaped canyon surrounded by towering cliffs and lush greenery, often called the "Shelter of the Gods." End the day in Husavik, known as the ‘whale-watching capital’ of Iceland. Here, embark on an unforgettable whale-watching tour, where you’ll have the chance to spot humpback whales, minke whales, and even blue whales in their natural habitat. Today’s journey follows the Silver Circle route, a showcase of West Iceland’s natural and cultural wonders. Continue to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, where glacial water flows through ancient lava fields, creating a mesmerizing scene.

Highland Hiking Adventure

Arrival day only. Enjoy the day to refresh after your travels and explore Reykjavik, the country’s capital at your leisure.

Hotel Check In/Out Times
Consider the hotel check in time on arrival and the hotel check out time on departure. If you arrive prior to the check in time, the hotel will store your luggage until the check in time and can also store your luggage until you are ready to depart for your onward journey.

We meet all flights on arrival given that;

  • you arrive on day 1 of the tour
    or
  • you have extended your stay and you have booked the pre tour group hotel with us as part of your package.

If you are making your own flight arrangements, we require your flight itinerary no later than 45 days prior to travel (and even if you are not making airport transfer arrangements with us).  Where transfers are part of your arrangement, if your itinerary is not provided to us within the required timeframe, you forfeit the airport transfers, or additional fees may be incurred for the service.

note: if you have extended your stay by your own arrangement transfers cannot be provided, and are by your own arrangement.

GROUP TOUR GUIDE
This is a private group tour escorted by a group tour guide. Your tour guide is there to assist with group arrangements and to act as the liaison for all tour services.

The role of your group tour guide is to lead the group, take charge of all the trip logistics on tour, and of course, make sure the trip runs as smoothly as possible so ultimately you have the best possible experience. From time to time, as is the nature of travel, ‘hiccups’ can occur, such as unexpected delays to due to traffic congestion, unexpected weather conditions that make a change of plans necessary, and many other things that go hand in hand with travel. In these circumstances your group leader will do their utmost to make the best possible alternative plans – please be ready to accept that these situations are out of the control of anyone and trust in your group leader to assist as best as possible.
